Dealing with nightmares

i had some terrible dark nightmares when i was studying which disappeared once i got baptised.

i think it was psychological based on the fact i believed jehovah was protecting me after i was baptised.

i had a nightmare tonight after just under a year of being out of the borg and woke up feeling a bit lost because in the past i'd have prayed and then gone back into a peaceful sleep but since i don't pray anymore i wasn't sure how to comfort myself to go back to sleep.

Yes it is called PTSD. I would suggest you look for some professional help. I did many years ago and it proved to be very helpful and no more nightmares. Cults have some very serious consequences on our psyche and PTSD is one of them. Take care of yourself you are worth it. Good luck to you. Still Totally ADD

Big news today

for you who have read my bio you will know i have been working on my wife to wake her up.

now i won’t call her awake yet but through a series of long conversations this week i revealed to her my dissenting toward the jw faith.

she was totally supportive of me assured me she would never think differently of me because of how i feel.

Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs

one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?

if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

I know of two. First was a young sister who hung herself and the second a former elder over guilt watching porn. Reading this thread has been a real a eye opener on how serious this problem is in this cult. Very sad. I hope this this thread will help the ones Still sitting on the fence.

the problem with putting out a message like that is what to do when nothing happens.

i have to think that somebody will be asking that question.

Bumped Into One Of My Best Friends On The Carts This Morning

so this morning i'm walking to my office and there's the jws on their carts outside as usual.

and old sister, a brother in his 20s and an elder i instantly recognized from my jw days.

one of my best friends of about 20 years.. i genuinely just wanted to say hi as i havent seen him in 3 years.

Sorry Pale for how your old friend treated you. One thing you said so much for the new personality. My thinking is he does have that so called new personality. The personality of the wt cult. Very sad how he felt your life was bad since you left the cult. The cult mind can't wrap their minds around life can be good after leaving the cult. It's all about us against them mentality. Is Child Abuse An Issue That You Personally Have Seen In The Organization?

as an elder, i saw one child abuse situation involving a man who wanted to be an elder and had i believe 8 children.

he was not in our congregation when this all erupted.

he denied it and moved to another hall and unbelievably, that body of elders wanted to appoint him since they believed his entire family was lying about him.

In all three congregations I served as a elder I knew of several cases in each one. And I am sure the three other congregation I was in not as a elder had the same problem. Still Totally ADD
